  4.                                    1941 through 1957.  
  5.                                    During that time he won
  6. 15 world championships.

  8. Willie got his first taste of pocket billiards at
  9. the age of 6. His father, Joseph, owned a
  10. boxing gym and billiard parlor. But Joseph
  11. did not want his children playing billiards.
  12. Every night, he would lock up the balls and
  13. cue sticks. That didnΓÇÖt stop Willie. He would
  14. sneak down to the table at night and practice
  15. with a broomstick and potatoes.

  17. By age 7, Willie had become tired of the
  18. sport. As a teen, he picked it up again. 
  19. He won his first tournament at age 19.
